Unusual Upholstery

Upholstery is far from uncommon in most homes; you’ll find it in the majority of living rooms and dining rooms, on seating and ottomans, in a huge variety of styles, colors, fabrics, and finishes to fit into every home’s decor scheme. But did you know that upholstery is spreading to different parts of the house as well? It’s not just for chairs and banquettes anymore – you’ll be surprised by the places and pieces that you can upholster.

Upholstered beds are becoming increasingly popular. And why not? They just add to the sumptuous comfort of the place where you spend most of your time horizontal. Classic tufting, bold stripes, leather paneling… there’s an upholstered bed for every preference.

Create a show-stopping feature wall in any room by covering it in material:
If that’s too much for you, you can achieve the same exquisitely dramatic effect in a smaller area like a door or ceiling. (Bonus: less to keep clean!)
Upholstery is usually disregarded when it comes to wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms. But it doesn’t have to be! Even damp rooms can be upholstered when you love the look:

If you’re worried about water damage (and understandably so), go for faux materials or even tiles made to look like fabric (perfect for kitchen backsplashes).
