Color of the Month: Decorating with Pumpkin

We’ve covered orange and red-orange in honor of fall. In accordance with the current season, we’re celebrating their quieter, subtler cousin: pumpkin.

Pumpkin is a soothing shade of orange that beautifully blends the vibrancy of orange with a calmer vibe. It’s the perfect cheery shade for around the house, a bold color that’s not overly “in-your-face.” These gorgeous gourds are not just for jack-o-lanterns – enjoy the toned-down version of the lively hue all year round.

Pumpkin is a great choice for kitchens and dining rooms. Studies have shown that warm colors increase appetite and heighten the sense of taste.

Of course, if you’re averse to orange you can display actual pumpkins instead:
But if you embrace the color, go a little brighter and surround yourself – quite literally – with pumpkin!
Pumpkin perks up bathrooms and bedrooms in need of brightness without being overly stimulating:
Use pumpkin for a muted burst of color in living areas of all styles:
And use it to thrill the kids – in the form of both color and shape:
