Not a big fan of the predictably overdone “pop” of color? You know the one: the accent wall, the dramatic stripe, the contrasting throw pillows or accessories. You don’t want to be cliche, but you also don’t want your house to be bland (or that crazy too-colorful home). Or perhaps you’re a little bit afraid of color. It’s time to add color to your home – in a new, unexpected place.
These pops of color are anything but overdone. They’re just right – not too colorful, but not too typical either. If you’re ready to livenĀ up your neutral home – even if your “color” is black or gray – try one or more of these innovative ways to add some zing.
Interior door
Sure, everyone’s painting their front door, but what about interior doors? Painting a pocket door is especially fun, as it’s hidden when the door is not in use but instantly perks up a room when the door is exposed. You don’t have to paint the whole door – try painting just the edge for a sneaky peek of color.
The fifth wall
A painted ceiling – or floor, for that matter – adds new dimension and excitement to a plain room.
Baseboards
Some paint the walls and add contrasting white trim. Time to do the opposite!
What will you color in next?
