This home is so different from the typical Malibu mansions that it comes as a surprise that it belongs to Hollywood celebrity power couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Yes it’s huge and sprawling but thats where the “typical star style” ends. The adobe style home was an inspiration gleaned from Will’s co-star Gene Hackman’s home in Santa Fe, which he visited several years ago.
“For Will and me this home was always a spiritual endeavor,” Jada says. “We’re very earthy, organic people. We wanted to create a family retreat, something made by hand and as natural as possible, something that ties back to the land.” They definitely accomplished their goal with the open concept adobe home that effortlessly ties the outdoors to the indoors making you feel as if you are living in a magnificent cave. You almost can’t tell which rooms belong to the interior and which ones are really outdoors.
This month’s Architectural Digest featured the home so you can see some great pictures of the 25,000-SF sprawling estate. The architecture was designed by Stephen Samuelson (the architect for Hackman’s home) and Perez-Daple. The Interior Designer was Judith Lance.
Wow, what an unbelievable home to live in. A beautiful connection between natural and home living. Must be pretty warm there all year to live like that.
Definitely different but gives a warm homey feeling
