How to Choose a Bathroom Vanity

Bathroom Vanities

Are you on the market for a new bathroom vanity? For those of you who like to shop this will be a lot of fun. For those of you who have a hard time making a decision, well you might find this a little overwhelming. Vanities come in millions of shapes, sizes, colors, styles and of course prices. So before you even begin let me help you narrow down your options so you can skip that headache all together.

The first thing you need to know is the dimensions of your bathroom so you will know what size vanity you can fit. You will also need to know where in the bathroom you want the vanity to be placed so you can measure the exact space.

The next step after determining the size of the vanity is the price. Vanity prices range anywhere from $100 to $15,000 so you really have to figure out your budget and look only in that price range (if not you can be looking forever). Don’t be nervous that you have to spend an enormous amount for a nice vanity. For a $1000 you can get a beautiful, high quality vanity. For a designer piece though you will end up paying more.

Once you know the size and price you’ve already narrowed down your options a lot- so congratulations! This will be easier than you think. If you are replacing the vanity in a completed bathroom than you most likely have a style and color theme you need to match. So you can go online and begin browsing. Many vanity websites let you search for specific criteria according to style, color, etc. so narrow down as much as you can. If you are doing a bathroom from scratch now is the time to decide what your theme will be. Are you looking for a rustic vanity? Maybe something a little more mod and contemporary? Now that you have narrowed down your selection the task of choosing a color and style should be fun! You know your size, price, color and maybe even style so your search criteria will be really targeted.

Another important thing to keep in mind is how much storage space you need. If the vanity is just for a powder room you will need little or no closed storage space. If its for a full bathroom you may need more. Do you have additional space to store toiletries in your bathroom, such as a closet? Besides for just being a beautiful piece of furniture a vanity should be practical and functional as well.

Think all this through before you begin your vanity search and it will make the journey so much more fun!

Good luck!
