Add Flair to Your Fireplace

As you can tell from some of my most recent posts, I’m on the East Coast and my Californian bones can’t handle this frigid weather. As long as I can stay inside with hot chocolate, a good book, and central heat (thank God for whoever invented that!), I’m fine – but alas, I have a job, a family to shop and cook for, and a house to keep up. That kind of life doesn’t allow for much sitting around at home! So looking at pictures of great fireplaces has had to suffice for now.

I love seeing the different ways to decorate a fireplace! In my mind, fireplaces are typically brick and boring. These are anything but!

Frameless fireplace – modern, minimalist, and just so cool (figuratively, of course):

Ribbon fireplace – the trendy approach to fireplaces:
Travertine fireplace:
Granite fireplace (and what a gorgeous stone!):
Soapstone fireplace:
Concrete & glass fireplace:
And of course, classic brick fireplace – with an updated twist:
So I’m not really any warmer, but at least now I have great ideas for when I have my dream fireplace (and the time to sit in front of it!). Do you have a fireplace? What does it look like?

  1. I am addicted to your blog! Great Post! Looking forward to get more information from you. I have an older home with so many ideas in my head, but I also have 2 little ones that make doing things difficult. So for now I will decorate vicariously through you!

    1. Thanks, Christina! I also have two little ones (4-year-old and 5-month-old) and an older home (built in the 60s) so I can sympathize! While I don’t put all of my ideas into being, it’s fun to have them for “someday.”

  2. The fall is approaching us yet again and I can’t stop thinking about curling up near the fire! Maybe it’s because we didn’t have much of a summer in the Midwest. The fireplaces you shared are brilliant. Some of them give off that feeling of warmth naturally with their warm-toned stone surrounds. If fireplaces are lacking the “warmth factor” I recommend a fireplace mantel!
