As New York Fashion Week comes to a close, fashion bloggers everywhere are reflecting on the up-and-coming trends that are already the must-haves for the season. But the fashion trends aren’t just for clothes; they affect home design and decor trends, too.
So what are the top forecasted fashion trends for 2017? How do they translate to home design?
Allow us to present our take on the latest trends, applied to your home.
Fur
Not just any fur – brightly-colored and patterned furs showed up all over the runway this week.
It’s easy to incorporate into your home. A statement fur throw can be, well, thrown virtually anywhere in any room; furry furnishings are fun and functional (say that five times fast!).
Textures & trim
The pieces paraded down the runway tempted audiences to touch them. Structured ruffles (puffy shirts, anyone?), fringe, voluminous pieces – everything is flowy and touchable. Plus, shearling-lined bomber jackets – need we say more?
Ruffles and fringe don’t have to be girly and overdone; done right, they’re sophisticated and soften the edges of stark decor.
Colors
The big colors and combinations showcased in Fashion Week: tan, gold metallic, dusty pink & yellow, blue & orange (and orange alone). Monochromatic outfits are everywhere – that’s a big one!
Pick your favorites and apply them to your home in any capacity.
Pattern
Plaid, floral, and crisscross patterns popped up everywhere – even mixed patterns!
If you’re bold, try a large area of pattern; if not, small pieces have a great impact too. And don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns if you can’t choose a favorite!
Denim
Not just any denim… embellished denim. Add patches, embroidery, or other touches for an edgy update.
Add denim to your home for a casual, comfy, yet stylish vibe.
